Dear reader, if you work at Berry Brothers, do not read this 💀. Also, I have only tried this place once, so this is not really a critique of the entire café. Maybe everything else is great. Maybe I just ordered the one thing I should not have ordered. Enough of my disclaimers. The matcha was horrible.

This was only a few days after I landed in New Delhi, and my matcha cravings had started coming back. I was with my cousins at the arcade, and later we joined my parents to get food. I was doing fine until I saw their shiny menu with matcha on it, and obviously I could not help myself.

We got three matcha lattes because the others were curious too. For context, my dad had never tried matcha before, so this was basically his introduction to the drink I have been hyping up forever. Bad decision. The matcha tasted nothing like matcha. It was bitter, but somehow also tasteless, which is honestly kind of impressive in the worst way. Everyone took a sip and looked at me like I had personally tricked them.

That was probably the worst part. It was not just that the drink was bad, it was that everyone assumed this was the thing I keep talking about.

Overall, I cannot really judge Berry Brothers as a whole from one drink, but I can absolutely judge that matcha latte. And that matcha latte was not it. Maybe I will try something else there someday, but for now I need my family to forget this happened.
